i love experimenting … i made two crochet cuffs featuring beads and hardware

however, one cuff sold before i had a chance to photograph it

this one i got in time

i’ve called it urban

the beads are sustainable wood

the buttons are from my stash and the washers came from the hardware section at our local supermarket

heart brooches

as mentioned in a previous post, i’ve been preparing for a market stall in deloraine this weekend

i decided to make some heart brooches

i have made these before, from plant dyed wool (some are for sale here)

however, my latest ones are made from commercial wool felt

i embroidered them with cotton threads, as before

filling is pure wool; buttons are from my stash

each heart is cut and stitched individually, so they vary in size, shape and stitch design

truly ooak

for sale – in my online shop soon (or come to the Deloraine market this weekend …)

natural heart

i rescued this unfinished piece last week

it was going to be framed but i made a mistake when cutting it to size

so it became a sachet/key hanger instead

the fabric is natural wool (upcycled blanket) which has been dyed with plants

i had already embroidered it with perle cotton but now i also added tiny buttons

then i backed it with a piece of wool felt and hand stitched the edges together after filling it with pure wool stuffing

the only ‘un-natural’ material is the plastic in the buttons …

in the evenings, i’ve been making these baby birds, which i call hatchlings

they nestle in the palm of my hand, but they’re made to be worn as brooches

i made some at easter time, but now i’m making some more to sell at the deloraine market this saturday (after all, spring is around the corner here)

i’m sharing a stall with my daughter – should be fun!
