i so enjoyed making the first pocket that i finished the 2nd one on the same day
this time i used coloured silks, including pieces from an upcyled silk shirt and a hand dyed scarf
i started by machine stitching the background pieces onto cotton wadding, and then added some trimmed and dyed upcycled tape lace
after collaging some strips on top, i found some upcycled buttons to accentuate them
then i hand embroidered and hand quilted through the layers with perle cotton
to finish, i used the slub side of a grey silk remnant for lining, and sewed around the edges 3 times with a machine zig zag stitch in grey thread
will probably use press studs as closures …
[various found silk fabrics, found buttons, cotton wadding, machine stitching, hand embrooidery, hand quilting]
What a great idea! A pocket for a pocket book. Love that you are hand-stitching it.

Thank you! I just love hand stitching – pocket one was done entirely by hand, but pocket 2 had some initial machine sewing. After that, I just let myself go with lovely threads and embroidery stitches! =D
