good news via email yesterday – my submission for the ’10 trees, 10 artists’ exhibition was accepted

ten artists only were chosen out of submissions from around australia for the 10th anniversary of the jumpers and jazz festival in warwick, queenslandi am honoured to have my design selected!

spent my evening doing more hand quilting on my time traveller blanket – and thinking about what to do next …

i’m making progress – one stitch at a time!

although i’ve been working hard on my timelines textile art, my other project has not been neglected

after some thought i’ve decided to call it time traveller

this one (as mentioned previously) is entirely hand-stitched

i’ve finished hand-embroidering the little squares

now i’m quilting around them

timelines

earlier this month, i blogged about dyeing antique silk kimono lining with unhusked walnuts

at first i didn’t have a clue what i would be using it for, but last week a germ of an idea began to grow

i begain by combining the silk pieces with some transfer-dyed interfacing from my stash, using a fused collage technique

i’ve called it timelinesthis week i started machine quilting across it in straight lineshowever, i was still stuck on what the next stage would be

then i remembered that a friend had recently given me a box of buttons, beads and shells

i began to sort them out, searching specifically for old-fashioned mother-of-pearl buttonshidden in the box i also found some smooth stones, shell fragments and broken china

there was even a tiny gold cross

today i arranged some of these treasures on the quiltso far, i’m really happy with how it’s going!
