Today I needle felted and machine stitched some threads, ribbon and yarn to an eco dyed wool background.
New journal covers coming up! [6 photos]
Here is an overview of the textile art postcards I’ve been working on. They will now be mailed all over the world!
Made from pieces of eco dyed wool blanket, incorporating oil stick rubbings of a carved panel, needlefelting, machine quilting, hand embroidery and metal washers.
Music is “Nocturne” by Duo Sol.
I finally got around to making 2 stitched and needle felted tags for a group challenge/swap.
One of them had to show negative space, which is why it has a square hole in it!
I had to send them to Hobart with a friend this afternoon, so I didn’t have them for long …
Made from eco dyed wool fabric, silk scraps, thread snippets and upcycled ribbon; machine quilted.
I dusted off my needle felting machine after more than a year, and selected some eco dyed wool and silk scraps. After bonding them together, I laid down leftover threads from other projects in a semi random way, along with some upcycled satin ribbon and eco dyed lace.
Here’s how it looked after the layers were bonded together – I really like the way the ribbon ruches up when you needle felt it!
I then played with some stitched embellishment. This is how it looked after I machine quilted the whole piece with automatic and free motion stitching.
My beautiful black computerised Singer sewing machine really came into its own!
Love the way the sun projected the lace curtain shadow onto our dining table …
Now to cut up the finished piece to turn it into fibre pendants. More soon!
