My Grandmother used the word Babushka to describe the scarves we wore while walking to HS . That way the babushka saved our curls till we got there!! I used the word to a younger friend the other day, and she said, “What????!!!” Thank you for honoring the Babushka in your great art. Meanwhile, I want to dye fabric a rust color by using some very rusty pig-iron. Is this possible? I am really turned on by your article in the latest “Quilting Arts”.

Thanks so much for your visit and comment – so glad the article inspired you! Yes to iron items added to the mix … see answer I’ve posted to your other comment. Happy creating! =D

I love this and I see the use of handwriting like you suggested to me. It really adds so much, both visually and conceptually.

Yes, and it is so personal when you use your own handwriting … it doesn’t even have to be legible if you don’t want it to be! =D

No, I hadn’t thought of that – it would probably work well, but would be very time consuming! Thank you very much for the comment too … =D

Thank you for your lovely comment; in ‘telling a story’ I guess I was being both autobiographical and empathising with other women’s experiences … =D

Love the european flair! Reminds me of my mother-in-law from Germany, the Black Forest area and have two friends, one from Poland another from Germany.

Thank you – I actually didn’t really consciously do that … it kind of happened! My husband’s mother’s family come from both Poland and Germany; mine from the Netherlands, so I guess there are plenty of family connections … =D
