Something to cling to …

when I was a child

my mother’s skirt was

something to cling to

reassurance hidden

in its folds encompassing

someone who made our

everyday routine into an

act of love and sacrifice

elevating the mundane

to something precious

something I still cling to

now she’s gone …

Thinking of entering this in Remade 2016. Still need to make a jacket and a shirt to go with it!

UPDATE: sold [vintage tablecloth transformed]

Eco dyed, armholes added, hand stitched appliqué. Teamed with a thrifted eco dyed strapless dress and a crochet necklace of my own design.

I have finally caught up!

Pages 3 and 4 finished. Digital printing, transfer printing, eco dyeing, stencilling, upcycled scarf, tulle, vintage ribbon, buttons, 3D appliqué, free motion quilting, hand embroidery, machine stitched cords.

My mother’s skirt, nos. 3 and 4

Big day (big week actually) – but slow stitching keeps me grounded.
