hands of love, cont.

on the 3rd friday of each month we meet at gone rustic studio & gallery to sew and knit for a day

everything we make during these sessions is for giving away to people who are in need for one reason or another

so we call it hands of love

here’s a glimpse of what we did today

hands of love – help needed

(This is a great excuse to keep making, especially if your house is already full and all of your family and friends are groaning under the handmade gifts you’ve made for them!)

Would you like to help us make quilts to give away to people in need?

We meet on the 3rd Friday of each month from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. if you’d like to join us. Message me for details!

Here’s an example of things we’ve made so far:Hands of Love b

We are looking for the following items:

  • quilts/blankets – sewn, knitted or crocheted (minimum size 1.6 m x 1.4 m)
  • jumpers/pullovers – especially for older children, teenagers and adults (crew neck preferable)
  • scarves, beanies, mittens, bedsocks
  • knitted teddy bears

[Note – no used items please; all items must be newly made for this project]

Contact me here if you’d like to  know more!

quilts for tassie

yesterday a small group of stitchers (we call ourselves the rustic ragamuffins) met together to do our bit for tasmanian bushfire victims maz, barb and ruth

this was in response to a call from barbara mellor, president of the tasmanian quilting guild

we had a great day – as you can see, everyone is smilingruth rita maz barb

altogether it looks like we have at least 12 quilts to give away (6 WIPS and 6 donated) – not bad for a small groupquilts

[WIP = Work in Progress … we make quilts each year from donated fabrics and quilt blocks made by our members, mostly to donate through our local counselling service;  some of our quilts were also given to victims of the bushfires in our area in 2006]
