Just enjoyed morning tea at our community hall as part of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Congratulations to Hayley Gilbert of St. Marys Day Care and everyone who helped to make it such a success! There was also a health expo with many stalls from local and other providers, and (of course) the tea cosy exhibition, which was a stunner. The hall was beautifully decorated in blue, yellow and white balloons, and there was a happy buzz as people circulated and chatted. St. Marys Highschool handled the catering with professional aplomb, offering loaded plates of delicious cakes and savouries, plus numerous cups of coffee and tea.
My favourite tea cosy was Pedro de la Pantaloon – a rooster complete with real tail feathers! The pattern for Pedro de la Pantaloon was originally published in a book called REALLY Wild Tea Cosies (pub. 2010) – and I loved our local knitter’s take on it! Well done, Kerrie! This version is the one featured in the above-mentioned book:
My entries didn’t win anything, but it was a lot of fun to participate. And I couldn’t resist sharing some ideas I found on Google … inspiration for next year?

It was great fun to participate, and the winners’ entries were very deserving! I’m hosting the tea cosy exhibition at my gallery (www.gonerustic.com) in June, so I’ll share pics of the other entries then =D

Thanks so much for your kind comments about my tea cosy entries! (The owl was made by my mother-in-law over 20 years ago, and I treasure it.) All the entries were very imaginative and well made, so the competition was very stiff! =D
